Nikwax TX.Direct Spray-On

It may be summer, but it does still like to rain, so it is worth taking some time to sort out your waterproof gear and checking to see if they are still watertight. If, however you discover after being out in all weathers that you are getting a bit soggy like I was earlier in the year then, it is time to take stock and readdress the situation. Firstly, check that it is not just dirt that is causing the issue by washing your gear with Nikwax Tech Wash as dirt has a trick of helping to soak up the water rather than repel it.  This can then be followed by applying Nikwax TX.direct Spray on which is a really easy product to use.

Step 1 Lay your washed item on a clean surface, be mindful about the surface you are spraying on

Step 2 Shake the bottle well and then hold the bottle 15cm/6inches away spray evenly to the outer side of your garment. One of the benefits of being able to spray the water proofer on, is that you can pay particular attention to the seams.

Step 3 Having waited for 2 mins, then use a damp cloth to carefully remove any surplus spray.=

Step 4 Take a good look over the garment to ensure you haven’t missed any bits. Then leave to air dry

A 300ml bottle will be enough to treat 1 to 2 items depending on size and condition. As a guide 250ml will cover a jacket, 400ml an over suit, 150ml for over trousers and 70ml for gaiters.

The beauty of the product is to allow you to stay dry, whilst allowing moisture vapours to pass through the fibres so you maintain a breathable garment.

Nikwax also produce a whole range of products for cleaning, conditioning and waterproofing clothing to make your outdoors adventure more comfortable whatever the weather. Plus the great news is that they are environmentally friendly and the solutions do not contain any harmful or hazardous chemicals.
